St. Joseph children’s home, called "Caring Place", is the home of boys who used to live in the streets. It is a place where the boys are loved, sheltered and taken care of, a place where they learn what a family is and where they are offered the opportunity to go to school and to start a better life. One of these boys is Patrick Bundi who is in form three at St. Fancis of Assisi school. He wrote a letter of thanks to Sr. Germaine, who lived and worked in Kenya for many years. Here is an extract from this letter:
Dear Sister, … Mine is just to tell you thank you for making me who I am today of whom many doubted I would be. It has been long since I saw you but I am very sure that our God, who is the leader and of mercy, guided you all through there. In Kenya, I am fine and indeed progressing very well academically, physically and spiritually. Here in Caring Place we are fine since the sisters support us in everything we need to see us grow to the better people of tomorrow. I am currently in form three, going to form four next year (2017)… I will pray to God that you remain in peoples mind…and may God keep you healthy. I am looking forward to seeing you again in Kenya. Your lovely Patrick Bundi.
